comply with subsections 78(1) to (5) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, requiring that a financial statement be filed on or before 2 p.m. on the filing date, reflecting the candidate's election campaign finances; and | |
include the golden rod copy of the receipt issued for the contribution; and | |
pay any campaign surplus to the Corporation of the Town of Oakville which shall become the property of the municipality. |
Contribution rules:
a contributor must be an eligible elector, residing in the Town of Oakville | |
the minimum contribution qualifying for a rebate shall be $100.00 | |
each contribution of $100.00 or more shall be eligible for a rebate of 50% of the total contribution | |
Corporations and Trade Unions are not eligible to participate in the rebate program | |
a candidate for an office on the Municipal Council or their spouse or common law spouse are not eligible to receive a rebate for contributions to that individual candidate's campaign | |
a contributor must submit the white portion of the application for rebate to the Clerk's Department within the required time-frame(s) | |
a candidate must file all of the appropriate documentation in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and By-law 2009-181, and the time for compliance audit requests must have expired prior to any rebates being issued to contributors. |
Note: the Act specifies a contribution limit to any one candidate of $750. An individual may make contributions to more than one candidate, up to a maxmum of $750 per candidate, but may not contribute more than $5000.00 in total.
An application for rebate must be received by the Town Clerk on or before 4:30p.m., June 30, 2011, unless the candidate's campaign period is extended under paragraph 4 or 5 of subsection 68(1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. If the candidate's campaign period is extended, the application for rebate shall be made within six (6) months of the date the receipt is issued.
